We recommend grouping the modules in each phase in separate zones to increase operational efficiency and reduce cross-contamination. <\/p>\n<p><em>Example of a small LX001 vertical farm with standard proportions: see diagram picture with blue &amp; green modules.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>LED grow light options<\/h4>\n<h5>Light strips<\/h5>\n<p>Retrofit any vegetative module to maximize anthocyanin production in red varieties with a proven peak at 450 nm. Simply replace the alternating VE lights with blue lights via quick connectors. This allows for flexible customization of an entire module or a single grow bed.  <\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Water flow in modules<\/h4>\n<p>The <strong>VertiMax 2880<\/strong> Farm is designed for constant water circulation of 3.78 liters (1 gal) per minute per module. External piping delivers water to the top of each module, which flows through the gray spacers from growing bed to growing bed. The external piping directs the water from the module outlet into the reservoir beneath the module, from where it is returned to the top of the module or into a nutrient dosing tank.  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Propagation module<\/strong> with deep flow mode (30L \/ 8 gal.)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Vegetative module<\/strong> with shallow flow (15L \/ 4 gal.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Sanitary facilities &amp; nutrient management<\/h4>\n<p>Connecting external piping to the <strong>VertiMax 2880 Microgreens Farm<\/strong> is simple, but can be complicated depending on operational objectives and equipment. The piping design is linked to the nutrient management system. Nutrient management is one of the first processes that must be automated in hydroponic cultivation. VertiMax 2880 integrates seamlessly with many commercially available nutrient management systems, such as NIDO.   <\/p>\n<p>Factors that we take into account when planning the sanitary facilities:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Will you have a separate tank room?<\/li>\n<li>How many modules can be placed in a row<\/li>\n<li>Which crops will you grow?<\/li>\n<li>Number of cultivation zones?<\/li>\n<li>Number of separate tanks to prevent contamination?<\/li>\n<li>Harvest and cleaning plan?<\/li>\n<li>Which nutrients will you use? PPM, pH value, alkalinity, chlorine? <\/li>\n<li>Will you clean and recycle the used nutrient solution?<\/li>\n<li>Is water treatment prior to disposal mandatory in your municipality?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Examples of harvest cycles<\/h4>\n<h5>Microgreens (seedlings) and baby leaves for the food service industry<\/h5>\n<p><strong>Microgreens<\/strong> are immature plants that are harvested shortly after the germination stage. Microgreens are very popular with growers as they are produced quickly and are often ready to harvest after just 7 to 21 days. A plant is ready to harvest at a height of 2-5 cm. Microgreens are popular with top chefs and gourmets because of their strong flavor and high nutrient content. Microgreens are produced in the germination (sowing) and propagation module. Examples of the harvest maturity of microgreens:     <\/p>\n<p><strong>Ready to harvest within 7 days:<\/strong> <em>Radish, sunflowers, pea sprouts, corn sprouts, buckwheat<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ready to harvest within 10 days:<\/strong> <em>Arugula, cabbage, choi, kale, mustard cabbage<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ready to harvest within 18-21 days:<\/strong> <em>Amaranth, basil, carrots, celery, chard, coriander, cress, basil, dill, spring onions, shiso <\/em> <\/p>\n<h5>Baby leaves<\/h5>\n<p><strong>Baby Leafs<\/strong> are immature plants that are harvested when the leaves are between 2 and 5 inches tall, when they are at their most tender. Baby Leaves are most commonly grown and packaged for ready-to-eat blends. Pre-prepared blends are the most commonly desired product.
